Who We Are
Since I can remember, I have loved going to auctions and estate sales. There is such a thrill in hunting for treasure: each day and every sale bringing new tranches, every item a little snapshot of history with a story to tell and a lesson to teach. There’s mystery involved in not just the item, but the people behind the items and the lives they’ve lived. Each sale is a story, one with good, bad, and ugly, and intrigue, humor, depth.
Throughout my time studying marketing at the University of Maryland, I supplemented my income by buying from estate sales and auctions and re-selling online for a profit. After becoming more successful with my small-time operation, I started to realize that the sellers (or consignors) where I had been buying were at a great disservice because of strictly localized marketing. In an estate sale or traditional auction, the market of buyers is limited to the people in the room (50-100 people, maybe?).
Technology has radically changed just about every industry in our economy. The estate sale and auction industry has been somewhat slow to adopt these changes (with some companies still not accepting credit and debit cards!).

What set Alexandria Auctions apart?
- With our weekly consignment auctions, we are able to accept anywhere from one single item, to an entire estate inventory.
- Clients love the flexibility of selling their collection in “phases” as opposed to one single event.
- Additionally, many clients are private and don’t want strangers rummaging through their home (who would?).
